From 1996,
several academic seminars have been held in Nankai University.
The international academic seminar of “International Relationship
& the Security Guarantee in East Asia” held in 2000 has
attracted 52 scholars, 14 of whom were from abroad; The international
academic seminar of “The Changing Period of East Asian Society
and Culture” which was held in 2001 has attracted 76 scholars,
41 of whom were from abroad; Furthermore, 36 scholars have attended
in “the Study of Latin America Modernization” seminar in 2002;
65 scholars (10 from abroad) have presented in the seminar of
“USA & China: Facing the 21st Century” in 2003; “the study
and expectation on the World Modern History” attracted 60 scholars.
These meetings have been successfully held in the center and
enlarged our influence in the whole world. We also established
our web site (Http://modhis.nankai.edu.cn)
in order that scholars could acquaint with us well.
The majority of scholars in the center have been study abroad.
From 2000, 7 people have attended seminars for more than 3 months,
8 people has given lectures to seminars abroad. In the mean time,
we invited several famous scholars to give lectures in Nankai.,
such as Prof. Eric Foner, Prof. Lawrence Harrison，Prof. Olga Igels,
Prof. Camilo Santanter.
